Hi, i am currently trying to get a homelite d3300 dx running for a trimming saw. my question is.....the saw will idle, but will not rev up the saw only has about 40-50 hours on it so i don't know what to do . I have been using my husky 359xp and starting to wonder if the homelite repair is a waste of time and money....please help .......SMC:help:

Welcome....and I don't think I'd use a Homelite to trim your girlfriend but

What does it do when you try to rev it?...try turning the Hi needle out..unless that is a fixed Hi jet carb. Do you feel comfortable taking the carb apart?

Before you start digging into the carb, inspect your fuel line and filter. 9 times out of 10, you will find a small crack or softness in the line, which will collapse when you try to rev.

That could also be it but I think that is a fairly new model. Does the saw have a primer bulb? Check the hoses to it as well if it does...if hooked up backwards this can be a result

check muffler

check muffler port for carbon. if you can post a picture of the muffler port that would be easier to see if the piston is scored.

The saw is only 4 or five years old, when i give it throttle,it just bogs down,i have never taken a chainsaw carb apart, but i ain't sceered to either. i just worry about some little spring,or needle flying out and becoming MIA.

Lol

Do check the muffler screen first as the others suggested. and do also check your fuel line and filter. Does it sound weird when you run it? A clogged muffler does has a distinct over muffled sound....real eerily quiet
