Hello to all on the forum!
New guy with a question, hope someone with a bit more knowlege than me can a least point me in the right direction.
I have an older Homelite saw, (I've had it for about 30 years!) that I have been told is a 955. I think that is is a VI 955 due to it's age. I LOVE this saw, it's a lot better than anything newer that I've used. It works well and runs well. My questions are as follows:
Where on the saw can I find the model number so I can be sure what I have?
Does anyone know a source of parts for a Homelite this old?
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

As for identification, look for a UT number. My 925s have their UT on an adhesive tag on the left side of the carb housing. according to the parts list I have, here are UTs for VI 955s:
UT10197
UT10428
UT10444-R
There could be others, but these are all shown in my list. As for parts, I've had great luck finding most things for my 925s with Hawkins Brothers. Search around here and you'll find their contact info, or if you can't find it, PM me and I'll send it to you.

Dan
