onlyhomelites,
did u ever have a problem with the blade continuing to turn when you let go of the throttle? any ideas on how to adjust the idle speed? i'll try that first.
thanks,
john

3 screws for carb adjustment, idle is the big aluminum one. A lean low speed setting (one of the two smaller screws) will also make idle high. Do a search here on how to adjust carbs.

If it is not the carb, check the clutch. Debris can make it stick as can weak/broken springs.

next time home i will get a new filter, it's easy enough to get to. let me ask you this, on my newer saws the chain stops turning when you let off on the throttle. the homelite does not. could it be the idle is to high or the clutch,or something else?
thanks,
john

Could be the idle stop screw, too lean on the L screw or a bad clutch spring.
