How much wood in a cord?

one 16 ft log, Let's say... 12 inches at the big end... about 10 inches in the middle??
8.73 cubic feet per log (my program, sez so) times 10... 87.3 cubic feet. Close.. Throw in one slightly larger log, and you got it.

Close enough.

I’m not sure what your program is or what it sez(sic), but a 16’ log averaging 12” in diameter is 12.56 cubic feet of solid wood.
Stacked out, 10 logs is more than a full cord, as long as you have 2% or more airspace.

Nowhere near that many, but I sell 10 plus a yr. Nothing compared to many on here, heck many here burn a lot more than that a yr .

if you measure the middle of that log... 12 inch, it would be.

have to measure the middle of the log... If a fella wanted to REALLY get it accurate, measure both ends and average it out.
Go one better. use circumference, and divide that by pi.

Like I said in my first reply. I had to come up with something that worked, easily, but accurately. Otherwise we would be back to the old system of "how much wood is in that pile?"
Worse was the guy who severely rocked the chain, and told me I was gonna pay him by the tanks he cut...
5 tanks on a 460 Stihl... and it was barely a cord of blocks.

Approximately 128 liner ft of 12" logs, less if they are 16" logs .

1 cord =128 Cubic Feet

I agree with that, but maybe you misunderstood the OP question.
How many linear ft of logs does it take.
Split this the other day, it's a nice example of what rounds turn into when split.
