I own a couple 2 series saws. 288xp and 272xp. If a guy wanted to maybe expand his collection but stay in the 2 series xp saws 50cc or less....what models should he look for? Thanks.

Yes but I think there was a 242SE also.

Actually, those were marketed as just 242, but they may have said SE on the number tag. At least it was that way with the 254, before if became an XP. Early XP saws also some times said SE on the number tag. ;)

Confusing? - surely it was/is, in the transision period in the late 1980s/early 1990s - and more so because major upgrades didn't happen at the same time as the designation changes.

Design development was fast back then, and not always in synch with what the marketing department did.....

Any man who is gonna do the 2 series must have a 262. Period. I have 2. A 261, and a 288.

A 242 is on my list as well. Those little fellas are hard to come up with though
