so according to piltz a ms 250 can run a 25 in bar mebbe this 346 will run a 30?

Are you running Stihl chain? I think a 346 is a bit more than Oregon or others rate their chains for.I've been running a regular 3/8 on my 346 for a couple of years with low pro chain with no problems.
Let's see the other side. Looks to me those picco sprockets are designed to discourage that. At least the 7 tooth ones I have.
