Greetings,
Seeking some education but first a little backstory. I rarely use a chainsaw and was gifted a new 2016 465 Rancher in 2017 after hurricane Harvey. It sat for four years, unopened, in the box in my storage unit. In 2021, we had a flood, where my saw got soaked for about a week.
When I got to it, I opened it up, air dried and put in a case. Fast forward a few months, we moved from Texas to Minnesota. I cleaned up the saw, put some fuel in it, bar oil, checked the spark plug and it started right up. It still has not been used and been started twice. The second time, it wouldn’t idle, so I took it to a service shop in a Cloquet.
The repair shop told me that I needed to replace the bearings, seals and crank shaft. A cost of about $550 with labor and parts. He said I could do it cheaper if I brought the parts to him.
So the question I have is, are the 465 rancher and rancher II parts interchangeable or will I need to ask specifically for the pre rancher II parts?
Thank you for your consideration.
