is the top end bad?

No, top end looks OK. Orig piston & cylinder were scored. 3 years ago, I put a new, cheap, aftermarket piston, rings & cyl. in it and then test ran (no load). Saw ran bad. I then leak tested, & it showed bottom end air leaks, which caused the overlean in the first place. Been sitting on shelf ever since.
