Had a friend stop by says his husky 575 is sucking air. I have never worked on theses saws before. Does the cylinder need to be removed to remove the intake plate and rubber pipe parts? Not a big deal if it does, the saw is super dirty and I was hoping I would not have to clean it that much so that nothing falls into the case. It looks and feels as it does but I maybe missing something. The guy logs and the only time his saws get cleaned up are when they go to the shop or if it rains while he is working and this ones never been to a shop.

No, The cylinder can stay. But if you have it torn down, do a leakdown test and see if crankcase seals are bad.
