Right, the time has come to properly pop my Husqvarna cherry!

I want to buy one that is going to amaze this Stihl/Dolmar fanboi, what it their best/one of their best models to do this? I don’t need any saws so you don’t have to ask what cc/size bar I need, just tell me what you think is their best saw.

I’d like to get a used saw, clean and fix it up and be blown away by its Husqvarna-ness...what saw should it be?

Thanks in advance
Karl

Well, since the 200 is pretty much the undisputed top handle king it will be tough to match that. Once modded some guys swore by the 339/2139 but a saw like that is so specific I wouldn't bother. Nothing fuel injected yet but I think a 385/390/2186/2188 would not disappoint. The old 288s sure have a cool factor too. I have never run an 084 but I bet a 3120 would impress you.

Hmm, the 372 is legendary, but the 562 is a doggone ripper.... when they run right. I’m a Stihl guy but due to unforeseen circumstances I have a 272x2, a 288, a 298, and a 562. Of them all, the 562 impressed me the most, throwing chips for 30 feet behind it while pulling a full comp chisel chain on a 28 inch bar in 20-inch dia dry oak. I’d say 562 if you don’t mind potentially having to wrinkle out a few bumps over time or a 372 for long term reliability. Maybe a 272 instead of a 372, but the only 272 I’ve run was ported, so I’m biased.

I take it a 562 is a relatively modern Husqvarna compared to the other options? I think a modern saw would be more interesting but I’m happy to consider all.
A friend has a 395 that I can borrow whenever I want so no need to buy that one.
Thanks guys, keep the debate going

The only used 362 I’ve seen in person was seized in the back of a saw shop. I could have probably picked it up for ~$100, maybe less but I’ve heard nothing but bad things about ‘em and left it.
362 (Stihl?) or 562?

I’m always looking for big saws of any brand so if a 2100 or 3120 comes along I’ll snap em up. 562 is also now on the ‘look out for list’

The eBay 562 looks good to me. My brother paid $800 or so for his new 562 with a 28, which he used for one job and sold to me for $600. :dancing:$35 for a wrap kit and then it was perfect. It had a slight “hiccup” while limbing when my brother owned so he brought it back to the shop. One coil/flywheel combo and 3 weeks later they discovered there was sticky diaphragm in the carb. Gotta love warranty work! The owner said it was the only time he’d seen that and it has run flawlessly since then.
