Just mark it with a punch on the nut side of the flywheel and line that up with the key way in the crank. Tap it slightly so it doesn't move while you tighten the nut.

The key is just to position it. The tapered shape of the flywheel and the nut is what holds it tight to the crankshaft. Since the key is sheared, this would be a good opportunity to advance the timing about half the keyway width. It will give it a touch more power.
