I believe my forest is being over run!

At first it seemed to be just in the back corner of my property, maybe 50 by 75 yards of it, or so. That was about 2 years ago. Now it seems to have grown to probably about an acre or more! What was once rather open forest is now choked with this stuff and I can see new sprouts at the leading edge all over the place. I trimmed some of it back for shooting lanes last year for archery season. I can see that those that I cut have come back with a vengeance!

Am I looking at Hackberry?

How do I manage it?

Looks like a variety of Buckthorn. Do the berrys turn black? Sorry - can't help more than that - I don't have much experience with them.

Yup, they sure do in the fall. I believe that there might be red ones mixed in some too.

Good call, looks like Glossy Buckthorn.

Good idea on the wait. I just spent an hour hacking at some bittersweet vines. Too hot for me.
