CT,

People can continue to blow on and on about the 361, but, the 6400/6401 is a monster in that class.

Good vid-ey-oh,

ole joat

That gum seems like a very hard wood as well... You need to get some Ponderosa or fir... LOL

Saw sounds great BTW!

Stihlboy, thanks man.

Joat, gotta represent man.

Metals, for sure man, that gum aint no joke. I was figuring it would be a little easier, but shoot, Forget that. The 5100 is taking care of the small stuff tomorrow.

Mo, hear hear! I'm studying the use of an Atop guide.

Cheech, shoot me a PM with your address again.

10-4...

Phil, you can't rent this saw at your local HD:)

BTW, this is why they call it red gum. Blue must look cool too.

This stuff is hiding in pockets and is gnarly.

:yoyo: Dan, I treat saw videos like NASCAR, NHRA, and F1/MotoGP...volume goes way up!

Stay tuned tomorrow as the show will continue. But not on channel 64, it'll be on fitty one...

just an example of how hard our gums can get: im reflooring a 80 year old home, new pine flooring over old pine flooring...im nailing into the original floor joists which are hardwood(gum). Im using 75mmx3.15mm dia bullet head nails. I have to drill a 2.8mm dia hole, 63mm deep(thats as deep as i can get the bit) and even then some wont drive without bending:bang:

now the old flooring is 19mm thick and so is the new, thats 38mm of soft pine, then the last 35mm is hardwood but has been predrilled 20mm deep only 0.35 of a mm dia less than the nail.......oh and punching the nails feels like center punching steel :D

Nice videos and ditto on running all three - almost like a GTG!
Considering the wood, the saw sounds and cuts pretty good but a better chain might help.

I don't like the idea of cutting into the support logs below with the tip - good chance for kickback.

Problem is that they aren't in the same class - 5cc and lots of weight difference (about 1.8 lbs for empty powerheads).......:givebeer:

The 6400/6401 sure are good saws, but they weight like a 70cc one, without being one.

For just blocking, it isn't an issue though.

Why rent one, when you have one yourself?

Husq, I was amazed how hard this gum was for being green. It was almost as if it was dry. Amazing that wood can tell steel to take a step back.

There were two huge rounds, maybe 20" across and bell bottomed out at the bottom that I almost brought home. I was helping a friend split this wood, and in return, she told me to take what I wanted. So I dared not even think of trying to roll these bad boys onto the Chevy(it's lowered too). So I thought, well, there is no better time to see if this saw can handle these two substantially sized rounds...I milled those two bad boys in half!!! It took the whole freaking tank fill for both cuts, but that's what comes with modifications. That's when I knew this saw was HOT. I didn't back off either, I just went for it hoping the .015 squish would hold. So far so good. It wasn't fast for these two cuts, but it was kinda quick:clap:

TomT, gracias for stepping up to the mic:greenchainsaw:

Buzz, I assumed because it was "attacking," it would be OK. But I can see your point as anything can happen. Movement, etc. Will do.

Just a post up.

I took compression readings, and after running a few tanks since the tight squish build, they all stopped at 190psi.

This is as far as I'm going with compression on pump gas.
