This one of you guys? http://cgi.ebay.com/STIHL-044-70-7C...421957361?pt=US_Chainsaws&hash=item5196c6baf1

It appears to be fitted with aftermarket piston, jug and related parts, aftermarket sprocket cover and extended chip deflector. And it comes with no bar, no chain. Is that a JB-welded rear handle and fuel tank?

26 bids so far, I bet this goes over $300, and then it'll take another $200 in shipping, bar and chain (not to mention a boatload of Summer's Eve products just to make it presentable. So for $500, I'll pass. I didn't fudge up the auction by asking, I'll just watch this for entertainment purposes.

But he IS wiling to change the rim sprocket for FREE!

I dunno. The jug is rehoned or new. The bearings are tight or new. Which is it?? I thought that was JB too, but if you look, I think it's just paint, it's on the gas cap too.

Sounds shady to me, too vague. But thats just me.

His name is Stihlfixing. He could be Stihlsawing's uncle.:)

Yeah, that's Ray. He's a good old guy. He's a bit absent-minded though.

Ya, that's him. I talked to him once about buying saws and told me to come on down. So my buddy and I bring full wallets and are ready to buy some saws. When we arrive, he had no intentions of selling anything.:D Nice collection though!

Yeah he was just trying to get you to visit. He invited me over one time but I told him its' two days drive.

038 w/ less than 10 hrs on it!!??

If you believe what this guy is saying it could be a well preserved classic. Somehow I doubt it. I can't wait to see the pics.

Thank you

I just wanted to say thanks to the people who post the links to saws on Craigs list.
I have bought four saws in the last three months.
1. A McCulloch 790 out of Mesa, AZ.
Had a 32" bar, advertized as a 36. I can live with that.
2. A Stihl S-10 out of Ohio.
Just as described
3. A Orline out of Kingston, NY.
Had a roller type bar and owners manual. I did not know about that.
Gas cap was broken. I can live with that.
4. A Pro Mac 700 out of Illinois.
I have not recieved it yet, but I have no doughts it will be what he said
because he sent the saw and told me to send the money when I get the
saw.
I just thought that the people who do this should know that someone appreciates there effort. Tom

I have a Sachs Dolmar 119 in my possesion. All the parts on it except for the bar and chain are original. It runs. takes a few pulls but it runs. the covers and body are in good condition, just some faded paint. it has a 24" Oregon bar on it with a new sharp chain. I put many hours into the saw recovering original parts for it. Dolmar is legend for creating some of the best saws on earth, and are now collectable items. So if u want a true legend check this saw out. If interested Call or text (413) 265-0277

I'm confident someone here has an extra $3500.00 kicking around.

Well JJ,

You can buy Roger's Titan
http://cgi.ebay.com/1948-ANTIQUE-VI...635503331?pt=US_Chainsaws&hash=item4aa75d82e3

He had a whale of a time getting it home and he owes a whale of a lot to a great guy who helped him out when he broke down twice along the way. He went by my place in his route but all was well when he went through here.

Bill

Some of Roger's prices are a bit ambitious. I like him fine but he prices his saws like many other "collectors." Anyhow, I found this ad on craigslist that I'm going to give a try: http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/tls/2133767610.html

"Vintage Stihl Homelite chainsaws - $800 (longbar 98294)"

"many more vintage logger chainsaws avalible, LOTS OF TWIN CYLIDER SAWS..iel titan merc disston mall mcculoch 425**418**0164"
