IDK if I would buy one for $900 and just have the power-head alone. I think if I have $900 I will probably skip the 440 and either jump to the 460 or 660. I love my 044/440 and all but for $900 I would be willing to upgrade bigger.

i feel the same way,,, that kind of money i would perfer to spend a few bucks more and get the 460

The seller might be a great guy but thats a very pretty penny for that MS 440. I think i will try to see if i can see one in preson before i buy it. Its going to take some convincing to get me to buy it when i could just get a MS 460

I've seen the new filter. It's the exact size and shape as the regular HD, only it's called "HD2" and doesn't have the felt pre-filter. Apparently they've replaced the flocking with something tougher so you can blow it out with air, which of course everybody already does anyway, and of course it costs a couple of bucks extra per unit. I'm not sure whether I care about it one way or another yet.

The old HD air filter (0000 120 1654) was used on 044/MS440-088/MS880 and MS441. The new HD2 (0000 140 4402) supercedes it on all above models, as of the end of last year I believe. However, it was installed on the MS441 first (27.2010). It is the same filter material design as the MS261.

I am with you and I will go as far as to say I will never drop $900 on a chainsaw. Especially since I can still get a older used 440/044 for a much cheaper price.

I would pay $900 for a mint 090. I would also pay $900 for a mint Contra or Lightening. I would also pay $900 for a mint Mac SP125/ 101B. That is about it.

I don't believe you'll find a mint 090 for $900. I paid $1000 for this one and thought it was a steal at the time. They have come down in price since I bought mine, but I still wouldn't expect a mint one for $1000.

No that's not what I meant. Those are the only three saws that could get me to pay 900 or over. Sweet 090 by the way.
