I'm cutting some pine firewood, the top of a big yellow pine has pinned down a small hickory, and bent it double. The big pine tree has gotta go, it's blocking the "road". I was careful cutting around it, mainly clearing stuff out of the way so I could take a look. If somebody cuts that limb holding the hickory, ka-pow! I guess a pro would know how to make precise strategic cuts in the hickory sapling in order to disarm it. I'm just going to quit for now and hook a chain to the hickory and pull it off the pine tree with the tractor. springpole arch 1.jpg springpole closeup 1.jpg

Salvage that Hickory if you can. Hickory is one of my favorite tree species. Lots of character and eventually they will make great firewood.

Those are cute little trees ya'll snagged. I push bigger over for deer to chew on. Worried about a barber chair or something?
