Been working on my grandpas saw with a nameplate on top “045 AV Super electronic”. After having torn into the (points style) ignition I now remember 20 years ago I bought a replacement handle/cover assembly from a shops junk pile. So NOT a 045.
I incorrectly bought a parts 045 off EBAY and I’m using the case of that. My original pump (1113 647 0400) Does not fit in the 045 case. Further digging Online seems to show that pump is used on 031 saws. So I’ve been buying parts for an 045, most fitting, some not.
Anyway, on one, serial #8338991 and the other is #6390726. Not sure if they can be identified by the serial number. They are more or less identical though I’m bound to find other small things.....and this explains why the 041/045/056 carb wasn’t quite the same.....

Ok, I’ll throw out my thoughts on this, but I’m not an expert. The first pic is of an 045 case, you can tell that because the bar plate is held on by the bar studs and not a screw. The second pic is of an 045 case as well, as there is no provision for a bar plate screw (ie, not an 056) and there are holes for dogs on the case (ie, not an 031/032). The first serial number pic reminds me of my 045 Super‘s serial number. The second one shows an OLD early 045 muffler, so that is probably an old 75cc, 50mm piston 045, like the one pictured below: As for the oil pump, Stihl probably updated it and you have the old version on your saw and the new mounts on the newer case you bought. What made you get a new crankcase half? Also, I do not think an 041 carb would work on that as the 041 is a horizontal cylindered saw and the 045 is a (mostly) vertical cylindered saw.

Thank you for the feedback! After going and looking at some pics of the smaller 032 I agree it’s not one of those. I just assumed back in the day the same model would use the same parts. I sometimes see reference to early/late when it comes to some parts, maybe that’s the deal with the pump.
To answer your question, when I was splitting the original case I broke a chunk out of it, down near the bar oil tank so it’s basically useless. I wish I had been more careful but water under the bridge.
