I recently bought a Stihl 064 (with 660 top end) with serial number 127628672

This site https://workshoppist.com/decoding-stihl ... t-numbers/ dates it as 1993 (+/- 1 y typical)

Now most seriaI numbers I see referenced start with an X + 8 numbers.
Does my saw have an older numbering system? Or is it as simple as replacing the '1' by an 'X'?

Sorry if thas has been asked before.

The first digit signifies where assembled. 1 = Germany 3 = Virginia Beach 5 =Brazil 8 = China. (I might have screwed up the last couple).
When a part number is quoted in an IPL and the place of manufacture is irrelevant an x often replaces the first digit.
