It definitely looks more like the D-45 than it does the 650.

Sticking with the D45 call. McCulloch in raised letters on the filter cover. Cover held in place with a screw. Tilly HL.

Mac 1-52 is my bet. The 1-50 series had full wrap bars, and tilly carbs. Plus the black top cover with the flat head screw to remove it plus the chrome muffler.Flip the saw over upside down, there should be a model number stamped in the bottom of the crank case. I have been looking for a 1-52 for a while now.

Have you checked the bottom of the crankcase for any numbers?

The cylinder fins match the D-45 pics on acres site. Neither the 650 or 1-52 are close.

I love these mac ID teasers. I learn something new damn near every time.

McCulloch 1-51, 80 cc



The same engine block could be used to make a 1-61 which was an early top tank gear drive saw. Most of the 1-6X saws were RH start.

it does look like the 1-51, but the muffler is the chromed one like in the d45, so confusing.

External parts can be changed easily, muffler deteriorate or get damaged, save for the clutch cover and AF cover, the number stamped in the block remains the same.

I have a "D-45" that has the correct label on the AF cover, but the block is stamped 1-43 so it is not an actual D-45.
