I have a weedeater brand hedge trimmer that I am having trouble with. I want to think it is the coil but I am not sure how to check it. I have an omh/volt meter that I can test with but I am not sure what to look for. I used a tester to check the spark and it seemed weak to me. There was a spark every time but it did not seem bright enough to me.

Thanks for any help Tom

P.S. I know I will get comments about the brand, but some of use have to start out small and inexpensive.
(Hedge and Weedeater)

P.S. Again, This weedeater is only a couple years old.

Uhmmm, I don't know that I'm up for a hedge trimmer.
The only sure fire spark recognition that I'm aware of is handing the plug to your wife and pulling the cord.

Some-body I believe is working on a "Wife-O-Meter".
This is a complex matrix of reaction/following behavior chart.

-----Saw----------reaction---------------behavior
Powermac 6 -------blinks-----Pushes plug lower says "pull-pull-pull"

just an example....

Maybe you're better take off ya sunnies.

You would more than likely find that the trimmer is fitted with electronic ignition and if it throwing a spark that blue crisp and crackles it ok. Try it with a new plug to see what the spark really looks like.
