yes, a lot of fast cars have run on alcohol. i thought about changing my truck over to methanol back in the mid 1970's. the oil companies were playing games and it got very difficult to get enough fuel. it would have required a larger fuel pump and fuel lines among other things. instead i bought "white gas" and retarderd my ignition. not much power but it got me to work. i used the family staton wagon as a tanker for my motor cycle. still had to sit in line with a six pack to fill it, i was burning ethanol then i suppose.
