How big are they?

"Is it time to retire the sledge and wedge and just noodle cut big rounds?"
-----------------
That depends on how big the big rounds are.

I noodle cut any monster round larger than 24" dia. and 18" or more long. Reason? I cannot lift that round and/or move it underneath any hydraulic wedge. Cut it in half, and I can.

I do the exact same thing too.

Sledge and Wedge.

I presume you have tried changing hands: the right hand starting next to the head of the sledge with the left hand at the end of the handle. It will take practise to get familiar with the new stance, but it might sort your problem. Is the sledge perhaps a bit heavy, especially as you are getting older?

Black powder.

everyone laughs BUT i had to do it once on a 5 foot chunk of oak. that piece was hard twisted and mean. whis i had pics but that was before i had a camera
