Yeah - that there is yer genuine maple seed, known to the locals as a hand grenade. Most maples produce little helicopters, but this kind of maple has all the helicopters in these little bundles. They are propagated by bears who throw them at American hikers who visit the far north of Canada. The bears are pretty bad shots (remember Toronto Blue Jays pitching history), so when the grenades miss the hikers, they usually hit others trees and then explode, sending the seeds everywhere.
