Bark is off for any of the Maples.
Looks like Ash or Elm possibly, maybe Basswood.
You have to split it anyway so split it and look at the grain and smell it (sounds funny but I can tell that way sometimes)
Match the collected info of grain characteristics to those found on tree id websites
Ash and Elms will have bundles of stringy grain and will "peel" and stick together like rope
Some other trees will be flatter surface when split and have "chips" or "wafers" when splitting
