Isabel tree work

Isabel blew a number of trees on my property so that they are leaning and hung up in adjacent trees. These are popolars mainly about 15-25 inches in diameter and 50-60 ft tall. I tried undercutting and notching only to get my chainsaw jammed. Got it free by pulling the tree with chain and tractor. There has got to be a better way. Attaching a line to the tree is hard since the trunk is smooth up to the first limb about 40 ft up. My wife tells me to call the professional and leave this widow maker alone. Any advice?

Consider whether the trees may safely survive by removing branches. Tuliptree isn't the most tolerant tree of reduction pruning, but some may remain assets if they are managed right.
This may also save you Money!
go to www.goodtreecare.com to find a local arborist. Say you can wait until December, when availability and perhaps prices will be better.

Thanks for all the advice. I spoke to a tree professional and convinced myself that I'm in no hurry to get this done. He's real busy now with people with real problems so I'm going to wait until Spring and see what gives then. Prices will be down and maybe some of the trees will have un-hung themselves.
