From what I under stand the 5100 just has 1000 rpm's more that the 510. Some say not worth the extra $$.

I gathered this because I am gonna buy a Dolmar 510 and asked about the 5100. The dealer said if I was trying to be cost effective, then go with the 510 since I wouldn't get alot more for the extra $$.

Again, thats what I understand from a discussion, other wise I don't know what I am talking about. I am new here!!!!:chainsaw:

The 5100 has a half a horse more and is about a pound lighter. I thought that was worth alot.

So the question is 420 at $289 or 5100 at $394? 14" and 16" bars respectively.

The 370 and 510 are out because the next step up is only $15 to the 420 and $45 to the 5100 at the dealer I talked with.

Those prices are about right. I have them both and I like them both. The 420 is likely to get stuck on the ATV for quick trail cleanup. The 5100 gets used for limbing when I get tired of holding the 7900. I guess it all depends on what ya really want.:monkey:

Man, with 500 bucks; You got a lot of options. Just pick whatever you feel you make you the happiest.

Not really alot of options. Not enough to get into a big saw and but more than enough for the 5100. I can't seem to find used big saws near me. Not a hotbed of logging where I live.

Think I'll head to the Dolmar dealer in the morning and do a little handling. See what feels the best. Maybe they'll have a test log.

A "good "dealer should always have a test log!!!

You like green saws?
eBay is offering me 10% off any one item paid for with paypal by Nov 30th. That would make the last one on this list just under $500, and that thing would really save you some time bucking firewood.

I would go this way also. Man, an 81cc pro saw for less than 500, delivered to your house. You don't even have to burn any gas to go get it. That CS62 looks pretty good too. HMMMM, I shouldn't have looked at post!

The 62cc is the cream of that crop, according to the info on this site - I would have liked to try one.......:givebeer:

Well I went and bought the saw this morning. Talked to the dealer. Seemed like a nice guy and he services what he sells. Well here it is:

Came with 72LGX chain on it. No safety chain. Can't wait to get it in some wood.

Sweet! From all that I have read on AS, you will be very happy with that saw.

Still, we will look forward to your review and accompanying pics!

The 18" CS62s on eBay started selling yesterday. When there was only one left, I grabbed it. Still four available with 20" at $360 with free freight. Talk about CAD. Not only do I not really need it, I've already got a DCS-6401 on backorder, along with a DCS-7901. It'll be kind of cool having a pro grade saw done up in JD green, that's enough reason, isn't it?

I went to the dealer and looked at one yesterday, seemed slightly lighter with a 18" than a MS361 with a 20". I hadn't realized it had an outboard clutch.

There were a couple of CS36 there too. More plastic than a CS62.
Still haven't had an opportunity to touch a CS46/CS52. Not too interested in those anyway, the CS52 price is almost the same as a PS-510.
