Got my first STIHL today its a 024 av, I got it for $20:msp_biggrin: and it was just rebuilt 6 months ago.
I started it when I met the guy to get it. It started on the 2nd pull and it was 13 degrees outside.
I am excited as I have heard good things about this saw and Stihl in general.

Did I do good?

Do any of you have experience with this saw or story's to tell?

Good, I thought it was a good deal.

here are pictures.
if a admin sees this I accidentally made 2 threads can i delete the other one or can you?

I'll give you $40 for it :D. That's a good deal for sure. Just about any running Stihl saw is worth quite a bit more than that.

You did good getting it for $20:msp_scared: i would be a bit worried that it was hot? But you never know. Take the time and look over it completely and make sure every thing was put back together correctly and it should last you a long time

I knew the guy and he was needing money bad. I don't think he would do that.
I'm gonna look it over in the morning.

This thing starts easier than any saw i have ever used.
I will be doing come cutting later today and will let you guys know how shes does;)

did good mang! you should be happy if you were looking for one.
Crank it, run it and post back how things come out on the "running part."

Trust me you guys will get to here all about how she runs later tonight.
My wifes getting tired of hearing about cutting haha:cool2:

Yep, good score. The dust adds a nice 'barn find' touch. :)

I started that way

The 024 is one of my fav,
IIRC, it started with a 015, then a 020 then the 024 and a 026 and I have a 029 waiting to have the 039 engine installed.
I almost pulled the trigger on a pair of 028's at a yard sale, but resisted.
That is a warning about how things can happen when the CAD strikes.
Oh, nice score, "you suck".

20$ for a running 024 Stihl? Do you really need a hand on the back of your hand when patting yourself on the back for your good find?

A resentful " you suck" as I too found an 024 once upon a time for $20.
