here is a tip for starting your saw; pull up easy on the rope until it is just past TDC, then let the roped back in and pull it firmly. having the pistion just past TDC lets the motor have some momentum built bf the piston comes back to the compression part of the stroke.
you definitely should ask your mechanic about an Elasto-start for that saw. it is basically a small bungee in the starter handle that allows some stretch when the saw hits compression.

my 084 is a bear to start sometimes. i just have to be meaner then it and know it can hurt me if i dont use the decomp.

i found crud in the decomp so id rather not use it i want it to stay seated shut at all times.

My fathers new ms880 bits him sometimes but it's only because he starts it like a girl put your back into it.
