Large Cottenwood

No we didn't take it down. It's the tenth largests tree in Ohio, Near Greensprings.

Is that an Eastern Cottonwood? The bark doesn't look right. If it is, it doesn't look too healthy. Got pictures of the leaves or the other side of the trunk? What is the dbh?

This was taken more towards fall season. It has been hit by lightning also.

Was there much damage? A shame to see these big ones get hit, but guess its been going on for millions of years.

I have to wonder why there's a Cat parked under it. Not too good for the root zone.

He's probably just going to scrap away all the topsoil.

We were clearing nearby and just about to go to the next job so I pulled the tractor up to it for a photo.
