Well, the Norwood lumbermate is looking like my choice, however, I am concerned with its 8 foot capacity. Can you buy extensions for this model?
Also, I have a Great Plains catalog, and they have some different options for the mill I do not see advertised on Norwoods website. Anybody deal with Great Plains? Thanks.

8' capacity, where did you see that????

Std. Lumbermate will saw a 13' log, and you can get all the 4' extensions you want... They bolt right on, and there is NO limit to the length you can add on..

Mine will saw a 21' log...

Yes you can buy as much track as you want, you just have to put plenty of blocking under it as it gets longer.

Much of the money you save with the LL24 is the lack of a rigid track (frame)... The instructions say to saw out a couple beams to mount it on.... I see many guys buy an old boat trailor and mount them on it...

If you put down something solid and shim the track to be level, you will be all set...

Personally, i prefer to set my mill up on blocks and leave it there...
