I know a lot of you have bought used makita 6401s from the home depot rental section...

But on my most recent voyage to the Waterbury, CT homedepot I was amazed to see one on the shelf for $479 next to all the other echo's, with plenty more in overhead stock.

Has anyone else seen this? I thought they were only being sold through the rental/pro tool sections???

that is a bargin at that price...
I go to the home depot near me alot,i will have to take a walk over to the chainsaws and have a look.:dizzy:

Why are the 6401's so cheap?

They're $550 at baileys.

You can get a new 6401 all day long on ebay for around $350-$400. Makita has been dumping these for cheap for quite some time. This must irk the Dolmar dealers and Baileys. Anyone know the scoop on this?
