Hi guys, I'm in need of some info,
Got this Makita DPC7301 cut off saw.
It came to me not running. Wasn't getting any fuel.
So i installed new fuel filter, Rebuilt the carb.
with a genuine tillotson kit. Found the pulse
line cracked and replaced.
Now the saw runs but when you hold it WOT
and adust the H needle there is no difference.
You can turn it all the way in or out 2 turns or
so and no change. then you bring it to idle and
adjust the L needle and the same thing. Then
when you squeeze the throttle it dies right out.
I have check everything i can think of. I have
rebuilt 100's of saws over the years and never
seen this. It has great commpression and the
piston, cylinder look great through the intake port.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Lee

did you check the carb boot by any chance?Could be suckin air through the boot or crank seals.Spray a little shot of ether around the carb boot while the saw is running. If it speeds up,its suckin air.Good luck

Did you put neddles back in right ports. I rebuilt Ts350 carb and mixed up needles. It acted the same way. Took me quite awhile to figure it out.
:monkey:

The carb boot looks great
and i did check the needles
and they only go in one spot
as they are different size thread.

If i had an air leak such as seals
or carb boots and gaskets then i should
be able to lean this thing out. But it runs
WOT with the high speed screw all the way
in and sounds good not lean.

I'm scratching my head on this one.

Thanks Lee

got me too.Usually if adjusting the needles has no effect on the carb, its a sign of dirt in the carb, but since you rebuilt it,I dont know.Lots of folks on here that know their stuff tho,Im sure youll get an answer.

If you're stuck, tear down that carb and clean it again, then re-assemble. I have had many fuel problems magically disappear when I scrap and rebuild, sometimes correcting an error without knowing it.
