I have a buddy who just got into the pawn business and he knows I dig saws. He asked me if I was interested in a BIG saw. He said it was heavy and had a 28 inch bar on it and was in really good shape. I asked him what model and when he said 084 I nearly sh1t myself! He said the guy has a set amount of time to retrieve it and if he doesn't I have first dibs on it. I asked him what he wanted out of it and when he said $200 once again I soiled myself. Now I just hope that guy who pawned it ends up with amnesia or in lockup for a couple of months!

Wish me luck

If you get it, that's a good price for sure!

What's happened to all the 084's on ebay lately? :( I haven't seen one for weeks.

it's amazing what desperate folks will do... pawn shops preys on the misery of others.

these folks have no clue they could get almost instant results from posting on craiglist. if price is right for a desirable item (meaning a pawnshop would be interested). craigslist gives almost real time response at 2x-5x what a pawnshop will give (5-10 cents on the $)

SHHHHH keep it down I don't want that guy to hear you!

Well it seems the rightfull owner of the 084 showed up today and paid the pawn on the saw. He didn't want to press charges on the guy who pawned it in the first place so I am thinking trashy family member. I am sad to have missed out on my dream saw but glad the origional owner got her back.... now if he just beats that guys ass.

I was going to reply and say that someone problem snag'd it from someone, so your chances were good that you would get it, most folks don't have the serial numbers of their tools...I know I don't have all of mine...

In a way, pawn shops often have stolen merchandise, so I tend to stay away...kinda surprising that the owner was able to get it. Unfortunate for the owner, as he will have to pay the pawn ticket to get his saw back, I think.

I find much more honest folks on craigslist, but even there I'm sure that some stolen goods are sold, just not nearly as often, IMO.

Not to sweat...you'll find a deal if you keep looking...they're out there...

Even if you got an 084 for $200, would you be happy about it if you knew that it had been stolen from someone, and certainly if it turned out to be someone you knew...
