Well it's been an interesting project to rebuild it so far. I have red coated the fule tank re done the fule line and rebuilt the carborators because I had to order one with the longer needle setup because I couldn't find just the needle set. Added a new chain break set up and a stihl 084 felling spike and a rim sprocket. Made all new gasket set because it hasn't been run in good gracious knows how long. Replaced the forward bar stud because it was bent slightly down and the threads where screwed up. And finding out it had no ground wire was fun.... shockingly surprising. And decided to just replace the spark plug wire as well and gave it a new air filter. And still painting it when able to. I've done the black paint with rhino/ truck bed liner because it's durable and looks good and has the texture.

Keep it up and you'll have a very nice solid saw. Mine don't care how thick the tree is w/ a 28" bar w/ full skip cutting all oak. I think the sp81 is one of the coolest sounding saws around.
