Mitchell - what does the 1-93 clutch look like? I have drums from one man gear drive saws but not sure how the 1-93 engages the shaft on the gear box.

specter - Air filters for the 797 would be 55498, same air filter used from the 73A/77 & D-44 all the way up to the 797 including the 1-4X, 1-5X, 1-6X, 1-7X, 1-8X, 200, 300, 400, 500 ,650/660 gear drives, 700, and 800 saws. I think the part number went from 51157 (screen only?) to 55498 to 67931, seems like there was one more number in there as well but most of the time they are listed as 55498.

On e-bay they range from around $15 to $20 most of the time.

The clutch looks like all the clutches on the older macs like a 250. The drum is really unique though. It threads onto the transmission shaft and it has a liner inside of the drum like brake shoe material. Ill try to get some more pics up.

And, on a continuing subject, I stopped on my way home from the airport to see a guy about some chainsaw bars and odds and ends of chain. I picked up 8 bars altogether and low and behold, several had the two kinds of adapters / spacers that I had mentioned a few days ago to mount a 3/8" slot bar on a saw with 5/16" bar studs as in large frame McCulloch bar on a 10 Series saw.

And here is a truly "one size fits all".

I found a part number for the spring type spacers, 64448.

I know I had the part # for the "S" type somewhere but can't figure out what I did with it. I do have a few of those type in reserve if anyone wanted to borrow one to try and make some copies.

I don't have a Mac part # for the 'S' spacers, but I do have Homelite and Poulan #'s for them written down somewhere. Same part, as they all have the same stud size and stud spacing.

Same stud spacer placed on three different saws.

Gents,

Picked this out of a barn today...

This particular saw had the wrong clutch cover, I'll steal one from a 1-71 parts saw I have.

Missing rear shield.

Compression is OK, the "arm" gauge thinks 120ish.

DSP works.

Had the wrong muffler, threw on the one you see.

Very strong spark, though the wiring needs some clean up work...some exposed wire.

No bar and chain.

I'm used to seeing "1-70" or similar stamped on the bottom but this doesn't have that.

What is it?

Congratulations, you have found either a 795 or a 797 as indicated by the automatic oiler and lever type compression release (actually the McCulloch DSP or De Stroking Port).

Remove the AF cover and see which carburetor you have.

One of the smart fellows will be along to remind us the model number code from the bottom of the saw.

Mark

63629 indicates a 795...

It should be rejected from this forum, that looks like a Stihl hose as part of the fuel line. Disposal can take place as soon as you send it to me...

Yes, I'll pay for delivery.

Yes, I shall perform the necessary surgery:laugh:

This looks like the "10-10 fuel line bushing mod" has been performed, no?

Something has been done. Kinda thin for a big girl to be sipping from. Unless, well, this is a family thread.

Does this mean he got a Super 797?

On another subject, what was the newest 6cube saw Mcculloch ever made?

SP105, other than that it was the PM1000 which we all know was a Partner saw. I personally can't think of a newer one and I did not look any up so I could be way off.

The Super Pro 105 the SP125c's little brother i sold a few of them brand new at the end of there time in Mac's range before being replaced by the PM1000
