This saw arrived today from the Aussie land from a fellow member
who was nice enough to hook me up with one of these rare saws.
Many thanks to the member. I will let him reviel himself if he wishes.
This saw needs a new top end and has been partially apart for a long
time so i decided to do a full rebuild. Crank bearings, seals, replated
cylinder and Wiseco piston kit. Got it all apart and need to spend some
time cleaning. Hopfully be all cleaned up tonight.

For those that don't know much about these saws. It was built by Sachs Dolmar
model 166 at 118cc's for Mcculloch but only for the Australian market.

That's excellent lee, you finally have a yellow one, those are about as hard to find as as a Solo Twin

Now that's a good one to find! Congratulations Lee!

Is it gonna get the full treatment or just the mechanical?

Brian

#### told me you got it at least its got a good home with plenty of good company the saw looked clean in the ebay ad but underneath its filthy needs a good clean
did you run a compression test before you stripped it be interesting to see how it faired after all these years ..... dont worry theirs still a few around i know of a couple
i sold new and your right an Australian only machine kinda makes it unique even though it didn't fit the market right for it was released to replace the SP125 and fell short.

But still a nice saw

McBob.

Well just found out its not the saw bought off me ol mate Stihlman but another sorry Lee ................. Stihlman wouldn't sell ya something that dirty

McBob.

Got a bit more done. Was able to get everything all cleaned
up last night. Today i installed the crank bearings and got
the cases assembled and the tank on. Next will be rebuilding
the carb so i can install the cylinder and carb as an assembly.
Much easier that way do to the location of the pulse hose.
Note the inside of the cases are yellow. Proves the saw was
made yellow not orange then painted yellow.

Great work on the saw Lee - I am glad this one has found a worthy home in your 166 collection. Thanks for your assistance with the big Homelite saw and parts as well.

Regards,

Chris.

Well, I'm done for the night. I could have had
it running but i have to wait for the paint to
dry on the muffler.

Lee

That looks like a nice one for sure Lee. I think I see a Wiseco piston being installed.

That reminds me, I have an extra good 166 ignition if anyone ever needs one.

Watching with interest, I was fortunate enough to come up with one of those a while back myself. It's a runner, but could use some freshening up if I wanted it to really go fast again.

Mark

It has been a long while.

You have had that saw for a long time, Why have you not freshened it up by now?????????

Here she is all done and ready for action.
Had a couple issues. The muffler wouldn't
work with a chain brake so i had to swap
one off another saw. The carb throttle shaft
return spring was broken Easy fix. Got it to
run but it would run good then run rich. Found
the carb govenor was at fault so i plugged it.
Runs awsome now. She came out pretty good,
I real happy with this one.

Now she's making some chips.
Running a bit fat but thats ok with the
new piston. I will lean it out a bit when
it gets more time on it. Still pulls like
a freight train.
