ms-261 3/8 chain!?

Hi!
I own a ms-261 I would like to convert to a 3/8 chain on it. At the dealer,they have a performance kit for it but it is a small 3/8 pico chain. Should I buy it or put the real big 3/8 chain?

Not that simple Alex. Turns out, there are lots of different opinions, And it would take lots of time to try to re-copy them just for you.

As far as being cordial, it's actually not all about you, but being respectful for the other members time as well, when you are asking for their assistance.

Lots of options and considerations. Should you wish to run a 16 inch bar, you wouldn't have any issues running 3/8.
Just change your bar, chain & rim and your good to go.

Yes 3/8 chain will work on a ms261 so . Does that help you . Do your own home work you lazzy price of crap. Would that have been a better response.

Philbert please excuse this guy he is from Qc. Alex there are many different options to your question. I have tried a 20" .325 bar and chain setup on my 026 and it was ok but did not cut as well as my 16" .325 setup IMO. Even tried a 20" 3/8 set up and again it worked well but not to my liking. I know a bloke that runs a 24" B/C on his ported MS260 and loves how well it cuts. I think the best thing to do is find out for yourself how it works for you. If you were closer I would let you try it on your machine. We Ontario blokes are good that way

Switching a saw from .325 to 3/8ths why not, he may just love more vibration and feel it is more manly. Remember the manufacturing engineers equip the saws with chain that will make them worse, right?

I think that here we have to do with a bull **** child that think is a big man and know everything, also i think the saw is a gift from his father or mother,he dont know nothing about saws and his stupid mind think that if he put a big bar and 3/8 chain to the 261 he will be bigger man and his saw will be a ms 661cm or maybe 880. Also he is not respectfull to other members, and he never understand that the factories have spent millions for test the saws and what is good and what not so this is the reason that the 261 is with 325 chain and not with 3/8 or 404.

The best b/c combo on the 261 is 24" .404, makes it an awesome limbing saw, buy some and see what you think
