MS 291 piston and cylinder kit ?

I haven't seen one yet.
Piston and rings yes, cylinder, no. Are you sure that you need both?
No . I haven't tore into it yet . Maybe it will clean up .

No the 271 and 291 are the same.
Sounds like the cylinder is shot and that's what killed the new piston and rings. Rule of thumb: replace the piston, rings, and cylinder at the same time (same MFG).
I used Masterminds method to clean up many pro style saws with excellent luck . Clam shells don't seem to do so well . Also I wasn't able to find a meteor piston for this saw .
Well I have good and bad news . The good news is piston is not scored after all . Bad news is I found and bought a used p/c . When taking apart I found a screw behind the flywheel. That must of been the bang and scraping sound I was hearing. I had the shroud behind the carb.in the wrong position so when I fixed it I must have got distracted and didn't put the screw back and it found its way to the flywheel . Oh well all is good . I know we're another 271 is so I may get it to repair since I have a p/c on its way .
