Thats a good amount damage rip it apart and lets get a look at both sides of the piston and the whole cyl.

Would you do a compression test before taking the head off? Ill have to go and get one from a friend. I don't want to start taking the head off if I need to replace the piston and cylinder. Too expensive. I'd rather sell

No its scratched all up take it off you can clean the cylinder up and put a new piston and seals in and be good to go. Dont use China parts use Stihl. Comes right off with a t 27 T wrenche pull it and lets see I can tell you how to clean that cyl up easily it don't look real bad. Dont get conned out of that good saw. I know everything on them in detail dont worry!

So you don't think it's a problem with he carb now ? Does the scoring explain why I can get it started but just can't get it to run smooth or tune the carb? I don't want to put a new piston in and then it needs a carb as well. How much with OEM piston and rings be? I'm sorry about all the questions ! I just like to be thorough when doing something new. I appreciate your help

We can do it on the phone if you are able

Wow i wish i could talk on the phone to there but.
Hard to say the scoring does affect running especially
if a ring is stuck.
The carb can also need work you wont know till its running again repaired.
Your prices may vary OEM piston 42.00
seals 27.00
The logical thing to do is to precede to rip it down and figure out the extent of damage or you cant tell!

Get some emery paper and try to clean that cyl up. If its to much work you casn use a metal rod with a slot cut to hold the paper and a drill. Best bet is to use a ball hone made for cylinders though. Can we see what the inside of cyl looks like?

Conor this will help with the cyl repair.

I might give you a call tomorrow if that's okay. I dont want to spend all this money on it because my plan was to sell it. I don't need one. They only see for about £250 so not alot in it if I do the piston. Might sell it for spares .
