Hi all,
First time poster, long time stalker here.
I've got 381 I purchased second hand thinking it was a great condition saw. It is. Aesthetically. But after a trip to my local Stihl dealer after it stopped firing up after i got her home, I've found out that Internally, she has a scoring marks up and down the piston and cylinder.
My question you all is are aftermarket replacements an option or should I continue saving and searching for OEM piston and cylinder replacement parts?
I only ask this as I'm already $800 deep and wondering if I should keep travelling the path or turn around $$ wise.
Would greatly appreciate any feedback.
Thanks all in advance.
Also, I'm in Western Australia.

As above, first thing to do is work out if an air leak caused the damage (vac/pressure test before pulling anything apart). After that pull the cylinder & if you're lucky you may find the cylinder is salvageable & you can get away with just replacing the piston & ring
