If you were doing a top end on one that was in otherwise good condition and planned on hanging a 25" bar on it for occasional use but didnt want to buy an oem top end, what would you prefer..

Hyway 52mm p/c
Hyway 52mm popup p/c
Hyway 54mm Big Bore p/c
Meteor 52mm p/c with caber rings

Outside option...try and recover the oem cylinder and put in a Meteor piston and caber rings.

The 4 main options are all basically the same price between 100 and 125 dollars....new oem is right around 425 dollars. Personally im leaning towards the meteor top end.

It's a decent saw not a homeowner it deserves a decent top end do yourself a favour keep saving you won't regret it there's not one aftermarket jug and slug out there that compares to the real McCoy in power and torque.

Its not a matter of needing to save up money, its just not a saw ill use much/often and will likely never sell. I rebuilt a 660 with a Meteor kit in the Spring, its still pulling a 36" all week with no complaints yet.

Yes I have lost count over the years the amount of people who come and see me disappointed after using aftermarket jugs and slugs especially the so-called big bore kits .
CC's don't mean squat without the appropriate Port timing and a lot of people are so disappointed that they have less power than the original just my past experiences .
it may be ok for what you want to use the saw for but a 460 does not have a lot of power to start with and can't afford to lose any .

You forgot save OEM cylinder and get OEM piston.

Best bet if cylinder is not toast

Meteor or OEM piston, they're interchangeable quality-wise. OEM cylinder cleaned up or find a used one.

Do yourself a favor and take a little poll for yourself. Do a search and check out all of the "which parts should I rebuild my saw with" threads. Put a check mark for every member that recommends an OEM cylinder, and a mark for every aftermarket recommendation.

Have you really measured out a Meteor with OEM?

I did with Tecomec Italian vs 038m years ago, they were close.

But, but, but,.......it only cost $25

Compared to??
I have no idea what your question means my statement was they don't have much power to begin with around here they're just a firewood saw good with a 20 inch bar.
I cannot see the point in putting an aftermarket jug on 1128 saw and ending up with the power of the 362 or a Husky 262 XP

You think a 460 is like a 362? " they're just a firewood saw good with a 20 inch bar."

What is 77cc vs 59cc? You don't understand?

every 460 with an aftermarket Chinese jug on is exactly what I said gutless .
you miss read my previous post I didn't say the 460 was like a 60 cc saw I said a 460 with an aftermarket top end is like a 60 cc saw gutless compared to an OEM 460 top end

Those really aren't the numbers that relate to making power

Cylinder isn't terrible, ill see how it cleans up with some finger sanding and touch it with the light hone.
