Got to pull the cylinder off my acquired S25da, do I need to pull top half with fuel tank or what, manuel I have doesn't state pulling cylinder or fuel tank. I see some scoring on piston and need to pull it down to see what's going on, hopefully cylinder is ok. Might be able to polish out piston.

I just acquired a Poulan 25 with the auto sharpening system and it appears to be complete. I usually just take it off and use a conventional chain but just got kinda curious about how well it works. Since I've never used one of these exactly how do you use it correctly? Mine has a little black knob on top with an arrow on it, I assume you run it then turn the knob per the arrow?

Acornhill - just curious why the newer PS chain would not work in the older system, seems they both just touch off the top of the tooth what makes the two incompatible? From what I know about the new set up, the chain has a carbide tooth to dress the stone and keep it in trim but I don't see why that would not work with the older stones as well.

Thanks,

Mark

I haven't seen a manual for the 25 but here's one with powersharp op instructions on page 12 for a 3700

Found one for the micro as well. Page 12

Think I'll be able to clean the cylinder with a little acid and maybe polish the piston, or replace piston?
