Quote: I found out an old friend of mine right up the road had a old Poulan. Today I stopped by to see what he had and he had just got it home from his mechanic. He has the bow that came on it originally also . He said he would call me when it gets too heavy for him to use. He’s 70 and in good shape so I’m worried it might be too heavy for me when he decides to let it go.

They're still out there! Hope you eventually get it. Max.

I wonder if you know anything about my 3400 countervibe. They all seem to be a light green but mine is dark green. It's not been repainted and I have not seen another in the same green. I was wondering if it was a military saw at some point was left it by an old friend.

Look what showed up in the mail today. Wow is it ever clean. Signs of a little use. But can’t be more than a cut or two. What you guys think.

Very nice saw I'm from the United kingdom and I have a 3400 countervibe I'm not sure if it's rare as it's dark green when all the ones I've seen are light green would like to find someone that knows anything about it.IMG_20230403_164817.jpgIMG_20230403_164829.jpgIMG_20230403_164836.jpgIMG_20230403_164848.jpg

Maybe a big box store rebrand, similar to the orange treemaster I picked up. Haven’t seen one that shade of green either. Too bad it’s missing the side decals. Nice peice there.
Unfortunately that's how it came to me but can't complain it was free was left to me by my mum's neighbour that passed away he left me 21 saws. Been thinking about totally restoring it. Just love older saws takes me back to doing forestry with my dad when he was still about. Must say your saw looks like it just came from the shop new

Can we get a better pic of the top cover deal with the info on it. Right there under brake handle on cover under it.
Might get lucky and be some useful info there. Betting on between the 2 fasteners for info.

Between 52 smooth, 54 ribbed, 85 foam grips used. I liked the 5400 style ribbed one the best.
I even put a smooth on a 4000 over the foam as I dont care for foam styles. Least we got choices for our likes I guess.

I dont know what folks are using for foam handle replacements. Like 4000 and 8500 etc used.

Be interesting to see what some folks are using for that one.

All the FW shown are sold in past.

Has your 4900 been painted? Never saw one with matching color cylinder cover.

Never tried putting a plastic clamshell saw drum on a mag cased saw. GL

Why not buy the right drum for 2800 with spur 325 or a rim set up with 325 7 and 8 if wanted.

OEM spur drum online dealer. 530048084 $27

I would think 20 shipped would get you a rim set up one even on ebay. 530048083 https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=530048083&_sacat=0&_sop=15

Yes the guy had rattle canned it thinking I would like it better than the faded look.

I'm not sure what has happened with the big saws. For years I have found one here and there and long time between them. About 9 months ago i found a 8500 that was nice and never had anything done to it, i have not even cleaned it. So when I turned 77 last June i had the crazy idea to want a 7700. Seems like the saws just started to find me. This is what has found me. 2 8500 makes 3 a 8510 in a box of parts, a 6900 ,5400, 4900 and my 7700. I have enough parts to make another 8500 but would have to get a decal set for it. I'm not looking for anything else but a wood permit mid June.
