I have several oak trees on my property. All I have grown from acorns. The tallest & oldest is about 30ft tall and about 17 years old.

My question is about the acorns though. The oldest tree is the only one that produces acorns but not every year. More like every 2 years.

Is there a reason for this?

It is common for trees that produce acorns and nuts to produce a heavy crop only every two years. The explanation is the tree needs time to recover before producing another large crop.

Are they behind other ten year old trees of the same type? I have some live oaks that too a while to produce acorns.
