Well, lol... At least my Shaver isn't the only one that smokes when one opens the door. BYW, the Shaver simply extended the 1/4 inch thick chimney about a foot down in the firebox forcing the smoke, etc to make a circle before exiting. Unfortunately, unless you load when its just hot coals, it does smoke a lot when the door is opened. They work best when fired with plently of air. I tried to chintz on the air flow the last 2 years and the door was dripping w/ creosote. I changed the draft setup this year. Result.. much better recovery and a nice light colored brown door. I've only emptied the ash bin twice this year.
