Yes, some small engines have pistons that only have one ring, but I was trying to maintain the 046 standard that Stihl made for the 046 in 1997. If the second, lower ring is not required, then why is it there?

Go with only one ring? Are your serious? Dang, I never even thought of doing that.But should be able to after a few measurements. I'm a believer in keeping the kits in tack'd... but I never miss a measurement.. ever! If you only broke one ring, why not go with just one ring... more RPM and wouldn't have made much of a difference.
