Ported and MM ms271

I knew I wanted my 271 to have more power so I began searching a lot and was unable to find a video of a 271 that had a muffler mod and was ported.

I ended up talking to chainsaw Jim and decided to send my saw his way. Well he has finished it up and here is a comparison video of a 261 vs my 271. My saw looks to be almost twice as fast. 15-18 second cut vs a near 30 second cut. He has done a great job!

It would have been a whole lot faster and 100X cheaper to just have slapped a MAGNUM sticker on it.

That is actually one loop of chain shared by both bars of equal length. Are stihl brand bars faster than sugihara? That would be interesting if so.
The log is the same. I did run a comparison with both running the sugi, and closer together on the log, but I backed the timing off too far on the 271 and slowed it down some... though it was still ahead of the 261.

Ok fine... same bar and chain comparison. The log diameter started getting bigger fast which gave a bit of a disadvantage to the 271.

That's quick but hard to compare the two. Of course I would expect a ported 261 to be a little quicker than the ported 271.

It would be nice to have both saws running on the same piece of wood instead of one on a 14in piece and another on a 18+

That is literally the same piece of wood with the 271 cutting directly after the 261. The last cut starts to get larger as it's nearing the fatter end of the butt. The comment about it being a disadvantage was only meant as humor.

I was talking about the ported 261 shown in a separate video.
