So I recently tore down my 036 and about to put it back together I just have a question on porting… can u tell a big difference in performance vs stock? And is it worth the extra time to do it? Never done it before obviously just wanted a few pointers before I tackle the job tia

I can tell the difference between a ported saw and a stock one if the porting is done right.
If you dont have a degree wheel or get advice form someone who ported that exact saw so you know exactly how much to move the ports, dont grind much at all. You wont gain a lot of power but you wont make it worse either.
You're safe to make the intake and exhaust a bit wider and make the lower transfers a bit wider and lower. This doesnt change the timing it just adds some flow. The big power gains are in the timing, when its just right they work really good.
