I have a pretty nice 3400 that runs good once started, but is a pain to get started. I put new fuel/breather lines, carb kit, intake gasket and the saw has good compression for one of these models. My question is does the top metering level in the carb on these suppose to be level with the top of the carb body? I hate to bend it without knowing as I dont have a gauge and it is a HDB carb. Thanks for any info.

Yes, it should be level. Just use a straight edge.
