I would assume this would be done because he lowered the jug and now the rings don't come out in the intake......

Yep, I lowered the jug so it didn't need to be hangin down as far blocking flow.

Quarter inch keyway cutter in a Bridgeport.
Quill it to whatever your heart desires.
